My name is Janka Hlinkova. I am from Slovakia, and I have been living in Australia since October 2017. So I am discovering our beautiful world at some distance from my birthplace. And I aim to see it in a sustainable way.
A lot of things have caused me to feel strongly, feelings and hopes I need to unleash. You don’t need to watch different videos and read many articles to see how wrong the way we act on our environment is. You can see it and smell it everywhere around. Waste, plenty of trees and animals have disappeared…
Stop for a while
Think about it
Feel it

My story is simple, but it took me a while to put all its pieces together and to become strong enough to start going my way.
WHERE IT ALL BEGAN
When I found out that I am coeliac, I started to study what exactly I can eat. Through searching and studying labels of products I used to buy, I realised that gluten is everywhere. I was scared that I would be hungry. It took me a while to find food suitable for me. But nowadays I am used to my diets and intolerances. But, of course, I am still learning, how to eat well and healthily, because gluten-free and lactose-free does not always mean healthy. With waste, it was the same. Since I have started to think about it, I see that everything we use in our daily lives will become waste in the future, sooner or later. So I began to think about every single thing I am going to purchase. Always keeping in mind – refuse, reduce, reuse, recycle, rot…

NO. My trash doesn’t suit into one small jar yet. But I moved far from where I was so I am very proud of myself. I keep going, and I would love to share my journey with you.
My first big steps to a zero waste lifestyle went through quitting using plastic bags, start ing to use food containers and composting kitchen scraps.
What’s more. Thanks to bad feelings and a lot of health problems I didn’t stop looking for solutions. I found Silvia Horeckáwho has dedicated her life to teaching about a balanced diet and good eating habits. Thanks to her and her valuable work I realised that also that zero waste in your gut is an essential part of our lives.
Life went by, and I wasn’t particularly aware of how much of the substantial changes I brought to it. One thing was the decision to go to Australia. It meant moving out of the apartment and here came my first shy date with minimalism.
In Australia, I had to start from the beginning plus I had a strong feeling I would love to do more for our environment. So I joined an environmental organisation Transition Bondi as a volunteer for a while. I met a lot of people who inspired me a lot. Thanks to all these new things around me I started to be curious about permaculture and life off the grid.

I have a long journey behind and still a long one ahead, but I now understand that all of this above is going hand in hand in harmony and I want to live like this.
SO HERE I AM
A zero waste way of life or the circular economy, or call it what you ike; it means for me how can we live in a more thoughtful way and how we can protect our environment. Even more, how we can live day to day life with as little negative impact on our environment as possible. And it doesn’t matter if you live in a big city or in a village. It doesn’t even matter in which country or continent you live.
WHY THIS BLOG?
I have decided to launch this blog about how I am changing my life and my daily habits towards a more sustainable growth because I want to inspire others that it doesn’t matter where you are on your journey, you can always change your habits for a better life. You can become more accountable to your surroundings, to the environment of others and to yourself. Every single step means a kinder and healthier environment. I believe strongly that my journey will inspire at least one of you. So this is my WHY 🙂

WHAT CAN YOU FIND IN TRASHXIETY?
Stories about that to live more ecologically is not so scary as it seems. I am still learning, so we are on the same boat, and I am an example that a change is possible.
You will find here articles about HOW:
– An ordinary human can live his or her life through zero waste, minimalism, slow food, slow fashion, etc.
– You can start to live otherwise and better. Slowly. IN YOUR WAY. You need to WANT TO.
– You can live this way also as a nomad when you don’t have a long term place for living.
– You can be responsible for our environment also when you travel a lot.
– To cook healthily and in a zero waste way.
So this is my story.
Welcome and enjoy reading.
It is good to have you here.
Because one person can make a difference 😉
